Faculty of Engineering of Porto University, the company Mota-Engil and Professor Pedro Pacheco signed, in 2004, a Cooperation Agreement - OPS4 Project, which aimed to create a competence center to research, develop and apply innovative solutions in the bridge building methods area. Since its foundation, BERD became the subscriber of this Agreement in replacement of its promoters.

This synergy, a good example of the triangle University-Industry-Services, is one of the most effective ways of achieving sustainable development. This paradigm is confirmed not only through its predecessor projects (OPS1, OPS2 and OPS3), but also through a series of other examples of sustainable development recognized at an international level.
