Project
Type: Bridge, two parallel decks, total length of 520 m (1706 ft.)
Typical Span: 40 m (131 ft.)
Deck width: 14,63 m (47 ft.)
Typical Cross Section: TT Slab
Equipment features
Model: MSS M40-I
Construction Type: In situ (In Place)
Type: Underslung MSS
OPS System: Integrated
Performance: 10-day cycles
Challenges
• Limited assembly area. In each viaduct the Movable Scaffolding System has to be completely pulled back. MSS transfer between viaducts has to be done with minimal disassembly
• Transversal limitation in the second viaduct caused by the first viaduct (already built).
• Demanding work cycle
• Turnkey solution required: machine + operation
Solutions
• Brackets fixed to the piers, which can be disassembled to support at higher heights (abutments)
• Specific solution for cross beam concreting system
• Adaptation of the equipment to industrialized cycles, fully ensuring the bridge design specifications
• Modules fully welded with incorporated flooring, allowing a quicker assembly
Results
• Construction Period: 54 weeks (including intermediate disassembly and assembly)
• Industrialized and operationally facilitated construction
• Higher construction quality due to the reduction and control of deflections provided by the OPS
• High safety levels during operation
• MSS translation from the South viaduct to the north viaduct in only 10 days due to the fully welded modules with incorporated flooring
• The customer was very satisfied with the reliability and performance of the equipment
